Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

When you first enter your email to log in to our site, if you are not already a participant, you will be registered as one and agree to our participant Terms & Conditions. Nothing else is needed.
To become a creator, you can click here to see and agree to the creator Terms and Conditions. This will create your Creator profile.

We have a wide variety of experiences! And within each category, the experiences can vary with their format and level of interactivity. You may have one tour in the 'Food & Drink' category where a Creator has perfectly assembled a tasting around a certain area with the best spots and recommended apps, desserts, or drinks at each spot along with some background on the experience. Another in the same category may be an intimate tour through a tasting menu curated and recorded by the head chef of the restaurant. The ideas are endless!

Booking Experiences

Simply click the 'Search' button at the top of any of the landing pages or click 'Search' from your participant dashboard, or click here. To book, simply select an experience and you will see an orange booking button with the price (or the word 'free' if there is no cost). If you already have the experience booked and either 'active' or 'waiting for activation', the button will say 'Already Booked' and you will not be able to book it again. If you are not signed in, you will need to in order to book an experience.

Once an experience is booked, you can activate it at any time going forward. Once it's been activated, you will have one week (exactly 7 days) to participate in the experience. If the experience is a paid experience, there is no way through the system to get a refund or reversal. Any such requests should be directed to the Creator of the experience.

Through the payment portal, all major credit cards are accepted as well as link payments. We use Stripe for payment processing because it's the most well-known and secure payment facilitator we could find.

Participating in Experiences

You can find them by going to your participant dashboard in the navigation column on the left side of the screen and clicking 'My Experiences'. There are 3 tabs to choose from: Active, Ready to Activate, and Expired. You should also receive an email with a link to the experience's activation page at the time of booking.

At the bottom of every encounter and reward page is a section for you to report any issues. While we do our best to review every experience before approving for the marketplace, we encourage you to report any issues with any particular parts of an experience so we may take appropriate action.

We are not a mobile app, but rather a web app built to be friendly on mobile. The best part of this is that you don't have to download anything on your phone to participate! You will need either cell signal or a wi-fi connection. The actual experiences were designed with mobile-devices in mind as they will most likely have you on-the-go.

Creating Experiences

For our creators, we have an extensive 'Creator School' section to provide guidelines and best practices when it comes to curating an experience with encounters and, if applicable, rewards. Please head there to have all of your Creator questions answered.

Accounts and Profiles

Click your email address in the top right corner of your screen once logged in to find your Settings page. You can manage your email address (the only required field) as well as your first and last name, city, and state. The first name, city, and state would be what appears on any reviews you leave for experiences. Otherwise, the public view will just say 'Anonymous'.

Password? What password? :) We use two secure methods for logging in:
  • Magic link: You just enter your email address and we send you a login link. Simply click the link and you're routed back to our site, logged in.
  • Google: You also have the option to log in via Google.

If you ever want your information removed completely from our system, please email [email protected] with your request.

Payments, Fees, and Payouts

At any point in your experience, you will notice a little tip jar icon in the top right corner of the screen. If you are enjoying your experience, please consider clicking that icon in the top right corner and tipping the Creator. Many of the experiences take hours or planning and setup and the Creators still offer them for free. Any tips are greatly appreciated and let the Creator know how much you enjoyed their work.

This can vary based on the Creator's agreement. However, the standard rate currently is 80/20 (with Roamara taking 20%).

The Creator's get their own secure Stripe dashboards where they can see all of their earnings and set their payout schedules as per their preference. We try to make it as flexible for the Creator as possible.

Safety and Security

Every experience is reviewed before it can become active on the platform. This includes any changes at all. Even the slightest alteration triggers a re-review. We do this because we never want there to be a poor experience on the website. However, with experiences all over the country, we still encourage you to take certain precautions, such as not going out at unsafe times, being aware of your surroundings, and using common sense when it comes to where you are going and what you are doing. Always be safe.

Disputes are handled directly between the Creators and the Participants. Only the creators have the ability to handle disputes and refunds through their payment portals directly. If you feel the Creator is going against our Terms and Conditions, please reach out to us at [email protected] so we may review the details and take any appropriate action.

Reviews and Feedback

On each experience page is a Reviews section at the bottom. You can only leave a review once, and only if you have purchased and activated the experience. We do this so that only verified Participants of the experience can leave reviews.

Roamara reserves the right to remove any reviews that we find violate any of our policies. Currently, there is not a way to edit a review, but if you would like it removed, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Reviews are left on the platform to provide insight into experiences for other participants. We may also use the reviews and ratings for site rankings and for determining featured experiences.

Rewards and Encounters

An experience is made up of 'encounters' with each encounter having the option to have a 'reward'. While some experiences may have no rewards, some will have one after every encounter. Rewards can vary in offerings, as well. Some rewards may be 10% off an ice cream at a local shop along your path, or a reward may be a scenic overlook. Keep in mind that all rewards are created by the Creator and if there are any issues with a reward not following our policies or not being accurate, please report it using the link at the bottom of that reward's page.

There will be no additional fees through Roamara.com outside of the booking fee, when applicable. However, we encourage you to read the experience descriptions to determine if any other fees may come up along the way. For example, if you're taking a free tasting tour around St. Armands Circle, the tour may be free but the appetizers and desserts are not. And if your experience is a free audio tour through a museum, the museum may require a fee to enter.
